Bali Exotic Marine Park started operating in the Benoa Harbor area of Denpasar Bali, Thursday, 19 September 2019, this is very important to provide education to the public about marine mammals.
So, it is hoped that the presence of the Bali Exotic Marine Park will provide benefits regarding marine mammals as a means of public education. We prioritize direct interaction with marine mammals which we hope will be a memorable experience in the educational process.
With knowledge and information, the public can participate in protecting and preserving the existence of marine mammals.
So the presence of BEMP is not only an addition to the tourism treasures in Bali, but can also play an active role as a conservation institution as it should.
To achieve this goal, it is necessary to balance three fundamental perspectives in all planning, governance and control of our work programs. The three perspectives in question are ecological, educational and economic perspectives.
An ecological perspective requires us to always work with appropriate and measurable norms, standards, procedures and criteria, for the sake of implementing animal welfare aspects, as well as implementing the function of conservation institutions in population recovery and preservation of marine animals, especially dolphins.
An educational perspective makes us always dynamic and creative, finding innovative and scientific ways to design and package conservation messages for marine animals, especially dolphins.
An economic perspective requires us to carry out careful planning, and always be in an atmosphere of preparedness in facing various unexpected things, in order to maintain the continuity of life of this conservation institution.
Good organization, creative thinking, data and information management, consistency, focus, understanding risks, and perfect service, are things that we must fulfill with high discipline in order to maintain the breath of life.
Bali Exotic Marine Park was built in several stages of development. The first stage is the existing facilities which consist of one interaction pool unit measuring 748 m2 with a depth of 3 meters.
With this size, this interaction pool is the largest interaction pool currently available in Indonesia. The dolphin rearing facilities are two rearing pools, each of which can accommodate 4 – 5 animals, one quarantine pool, trainer room and laboratory to support animal health.
Other supporting facilities include a restaurant unit, an office and lobby unit, a souvenir shop and a feed storage room. The second phase of development is planned to follow in the form of building facilities for interaction with other aquatic animals under water.
